Canon Charlie Masters
The national scene

Canon Charlie Masters is National Director of Anglican Essentials Canada. His visit here was the seventh of fifteen stops on his "Now is the time!" Canada-wide tour in advance of the June general synod. He brings prayer, understanding and education to Anglicans. 100 came out in Ottawa to listen to him, and to ask some excellent questions, some of which addressed the situation we will find ourselves in post-synod if the ACC decides to walk apart from the direction set by Lambeth '98. Canon Masters believes strongly that the time is now to act; to inform our brothers and sisters in the church, and not to risk the sin of failing to speak up in truth for fear of disturbing the status quo. There are about 15 churches in Canada which have so far joined the Anglican Network in Canada, but he believes that many more could wake up following the likely acceptance of the motions before synod. He also highlighed the amendment to clause A134 brought by a priest of this Diocese at the 1994 Synod as being the moment when the wrong path was taken by the ACC.
